| The Prime Minister’s New ‘Attack Dog’ Sharan Burrow Only Feathering Her Own Nest - Schultz | Email this page | | Back | Federal Member for Hume, Alby Schultz, has branded ACTU rottweiler, Sharan Burrow’s recent media fear campaign launched to attack the growing popularity of Opposition Leader Tony Abbott by outrageously suggesting the Coalition will return to Work Choices as nothing more than a smokescreen to cover the increasing incompetence of the Rudd Labor Government and at the same time positioning herself for a move from the ACTU to Federal politics. “This hyped up media campaign launched, in collaboration with the Rudd Labor Government, to neutralize the increasing popularity of Tony Abbott by suggesting that an Abbott Government would return to Work Choices is nothing more than an elaborate smokescreen to shift emphasis from the mounting evidence of ongoing Rudd Government incompetence.” Mr Schultz said. “The trade union movement bank rolled Labor’s national election campaign in 2007. They were rewarded by the Rudd Labor Government with a watering down of industrial relations laws tipping the balance squarely back into the Trade Union’s hands.” “The mounting failure of this Government to deliver on its 2007 election commitments has now seen Mr Rudd calling in that favour and again using its union powerbase to launch a targeted propaganda campaign in an order to deflect attention from these failings onto the increasing popularity of Tony Abbott.” “The ACTU is spending hundreds of thousands of its membership funds on an obviously misleading campaign attacking the Coalition which has yet to announce its workplace policy.” Mr Schultz added. “At the same time while Ms Burrows is carrying out her ‘attack dog’ role she is ignoring the tens of thousands of workers who, in NSW alone, are facing pay cuts of up to $370 per week under Labor’s so called ‘Fair Work Australia’ laws.” “So much for Ms Burrow’s commitment to ‘working families!’” “Ms Burrow’s actions are very reminiscent of previous ACTU bosses who have ended up, as a pay-off for their loyalty, with plumb Senate or a safe Lower House seats in the Australian Parliament.” Mr Schultz concluded.
