Labor Leadership Speculation Detracting from the Role of Government
February 20, 2012
Alby Schultz MP, Federal Member for Hume and constituents within the electorate have once again woken to front-page headlines dominated by Labor leadership speculation further detracting from the role of Government.
“It is hugely concerning that the nation has suffered yet another week of Labor leadership speculation which is not only detracting from the role of the office of Prime Minister, but is distracting the Gillard Government from the important issues such as the high cost of living, border protection and healthcare which are of primary concern to my constituency” Alby said.
“While the Labor Party and our national media speculate about the future job prospects of the Prime Minister and Kevin, the job prospects for my constituents continue to be of great concern as a result of the high cost of living as well as the imminent Carbon Tax and Mining Tax” Alby said.
“This is another classic example of the directionless and divided Gillard Government and the way in which the office of Prime Minister is being thrown into disrepute” Alby added.
“The Coalition has the track-record of strong fiscal management, effective border protection and direct focus upon the needs of regional Australia and it is abundantly clear that restoration of confidence in the role of Government to achieve such objectives will not happen under any Labor-Greens alliance” Alby concluded.
