Continuing support for CCTV in Cowra

January 17, 2012

The Federal Member for Hume, Alby Schultz MP has re-offered his support to the Cowra Shire Council and the Cowra Business Chamber for their applications through various grants schemes offered by the Federal Government in order to fund CCTV in Kendal Street, Cowra.

“After discussions with the Cowra Business Chamber it appears as though no application for funding under the Proceeds of Crime Act grants scheme was in fact lodged as was otherwise stated in last Friday’s Cowra Guardian” Alby said today.

“I have however re-offered my continuing support and encouragement to the Cowra Business Chamber and the Cowra Shire Council in their applications for future funding rounds such as the Proceeds of Crime Act scheme with my office currently making enquiries to the Attorney-General as to when applications for the next grants scheme open, for which I will again be providing my letter of support” Alby said.

“Once I have received confirmation from the Attorney-General’s office I will be sure to contact the Cowra Business Chamber and the Cowra Shire Council” Alby added.

“The need for CCTV within regional CBD’s such as Cowra remains a high priority given the rise in excessive vandalism and alcohol fuelled misdemeanours which have a hugely detrimental affect to the profitability of local businesses, insurance premiums and the community’s general sense of security” Alby concluded.
