State Government response Ho-ho-hopeful?
December 23, 2011
The Federal Member for Hume, Alby Schultz MP continues to receive a plethora of correspondence from individuals across New South Wales regarding wind farm development. These individuals and their families have requested Alby’s continued pressure upon the New South Wales state government to draft policy which involves significant consideration of the impact that wind farm development will have upon their livelihoods.
“I have been contacted from people all over the state seeking my assistance in continued pressure upon the state government to act according to their commitments last election; to put a moratorium and consult extensively within the community regarding all wind farm development” Alby said today.
“These people have further conveyed to me their extreme frustration as a result of the complete disregard for their legitimate concerns from their respective state members of parliament as well as the New South Wales Department of Planning” Alby said.
“This is particularly concerning due to the draft policy released today by the state government which ought to have reflected the considerable concerns of these people and their families” Alby added.
“These people do not feel as though their concerns have been listened to which makes me wonder how the draft policy can possibly reflect a holistic and considered response to wind farm development in this state” Alby said.
Amongst the many communities experiencing such frustration, individuals who reside near the Capital wind farm feel as though they have no one other than the Member for Hume who will listen and act upon their very serious concerns.
“It is apparent that the standard response from state members of parliament to these concerns is one of silence and ignorance” Alby said,
“The draft policy is a good start but we really do need a moratorium and commission of inquiry into the affects of wind farm development as there are more serious issues attached to wind farms that still need to be addressed” Alby concluded.
